About the Position:
The work involves prolonged periods of standing & bending to diagnose & treat patient illnesses and/or injuries & requires alternate standing, sitting, bending, & fine motor skills. In surgery procedures require a high degree of manual dexterity & muscle strength to hold a position for extended lengths of time & to operate specialized equipment. The work requires lifting & positioning patients in the intensive care unit setting where exposure to infections & contagious disease is common. Precautions are routine for nearly all situations.

The work is performed indoors in a well-lighted, heated & ventilated area. Precautions are necessary to prevent radiation exposure when using fluoroscopy in surgery & for procedures. Precautions are necessary to prevent hearing damage from noise exposure.

You will be required to carry a pager & pull call in-house on a rotating basis & maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

This is an inclement weather essential position.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of EducationAND Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification.NCCPA certification must be listed on your resume or it will result in non-consideration of your resume.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: One year of experience as a certified physician assistant in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-12) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, & abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume they possess specialized experience involving neurological diseases & injuries and assessing a wide variety of diseases & types of injuries, performing examinations, taking histories, reviewing radiographs or test results, prescribing medications, and/or making patient evaluations.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
